Hi and welcome to my website! I am Dr. McKay, a geology professor at Missouri State University. My research focuses on how mountains are constructed, but I have increasingly been incorporating technology (neural networks, AI, Arduino systems, 3D printing, unmanned aerial vehicles) and visualization (3D imagery, game engines, illustrations) to solve problems and teach students.
Imagine one geologist looking at rocks in the Himalayan Mountains, feeding data back to a geologist in a lab on the other side of the planet. Then the geologist in the lab making augmented reality maps to send back to the first geologist! That’s what my research is striving toward. Bringing the the latest tech to geological science.
